  • ASEAN

The full form of ASEAN is the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit. It was established on 8th August 1967.  These members aim to accelerate economic growth, social progress, and cultural development and to promote regional peace, collaboration, and mutual assistance on matters of common interest.

Headquarter: Jakarta, Indonesia

Members: There are 10 member countries namely Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, and Brunei. East Timor and Papua New Guinea are the observer countries. 

Chairperson: The current secretary-general is Lim Jock Hoi from Brunei.

  • SAARC

The SAARC expands as the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation. The organization was founded in Dhaka on 8 December 1985. The organization is working towards promoting the development of economic and regional integration.

Headquarter: Kathmandu, Nepal

Members:  There are eight member countries of SAARC namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The United States of America is a permanent observer along with ten observers.

Chairperson:  The present secretary-general hails from Sri Lanka. He is Esala Ruwan Weerakoon took charge on 3rd March 2020

United Nations Organizations

It is abbreviated as UNO is an intergovernmental organization working to maintain international peace and security, developing friendly relations among member nations. It was established on 24th October 1945 after World war II.

Headquarter:  New York, USA

Members: There are a total of 193 member countries.

Chairperson: António Guterres, a Portuguese diplomat is the current secretary-general of the UNO.

Indian Science Congress

It is a premier scientific organization that meets annually in the first week of January. More than 30,000 scientists are a member of the organization. The first meet was held at the Asiatic Society in Calcutta in 1914. The main objective of this organization is the advancement and promotion of science at the national level among youths.

Headquarter: Kolkata, West Bengal

WHO

World Health Organization was established on 7th April 1948. The day is recognized as a world health day. The organization is working towards the attainment of the highest possible level of health by all peoples.

Headquarter: Geneva, Switzerland

Members: There are a total of 194 member nations

Chairperson: The director-general for the WHO is Tedros Adhanom. He is an Ethiopian biologist. 

G 20 Organisation

It is a group of twenty countries working towards the common motive of international financial stability and bringing together systemically important industrialized and developing economies to discuss key issues in the global economy. It was founded on 26th September 1999. 

Headquarter: Cancún, Mexico

Members: The member nations are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Spain is a permanent guest invitee.

Chairperson:  Giuseppe Conte is the current chairperson of the G 20 organization. He is a native of Italy.

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation

It is an intergovernmental forum of Asian nations promoting free trade across the Asia-Pacific region.

Headquarter: Queenstown, Singapore

Members: There are 21 member nations namely Australia, Canada, Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, the USA, Taiwan, hong kong, china, Mexico, Papua new guinea, chile, Peru, Russia, and Vietnam.

Chairperson: Muhyiddin Yassin is a former prime minister of Malaysia. He is the present chairman of APEC.

OPEC

The full form of OPEC is the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.

Headquarter: Vienna, Austria

Members: There are 13 member nations namely Angola, equatorial guinea, Gabon, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, republic of congo, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Venezuela, and Algeria.

Chairperson: Mohammed Barkindo is the present chairman of OPEC.
