IBPS PO Notification 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for the IBPS PO 2024 examination:

  • Educational Qualification: A candidate must possess a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. Additionally, they should have the operating and working knowledge of computer systems.
  • Age Limit: The minimum age for application is 20 years, and the maximum age is 30 years. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government norms.
  • Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries, etc., with the intention of permanently settling in India.

IBPS PO 2024 Selection Process

The final selection is based on the cumulative performance in all three stages:

  • Preliminary Exam: Qualifying in nature
  • Main Exam: Weightage in the final merit list
  • Interview: Weightage in the final merit list

The IBPS PO selection process is rigorous because of its position in India’s Banking System. Candidates have to go through a three-stage selection process i.e. Prelims, Mains & Interviews.

  • Preliminary Exam: This is a qualifying exam consisting of three sections: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. Each section has 20 minutes with a total of 100 marks.
  • Main Exam: This consists of Objective Tests (Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation) and a Descriptive Test (Letter Writing & Essay).
  • Interview: Candidates who clear the main exam are called for a personal interview conducted by participating banks and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each state/UT.

The eligibility criteria required for IBPS PO 2024 Exam in terms of educational degree, computer literacy, language proficiency, and age limit has been discussed below- 

IBPS PO Educational Qualification

Graduation Degree: The eligibility criteria for the IBPS CRP exam is as basic as a graduation degree (BA, BCom, BSc, B.Tech or as such) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India. Any such candidate who has received equivalent qualification which is recognized by the Central Government is also eligible to apply for this exam.

The candidates must have a valid mark sheet / Degree Certificate that certifies that they are a graduate on the day they register for this exam, and must indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering for the IBPS Bank-PO examination.

Computer Literacy: Working knowledge of computer systems is necessary for the job as well as to give the IBPS PO exam which is conducted in online mode.

Language Proficiency: Verbal and written proficiency in the official language of the State/UT is desirable. The candidate must be able to read, write and speak the language.

Nationality / Citizenship of Applicants

A candidate applying for the IBPS CRP/Bank PO Examination must be one of the following:

1. Citizen of India

2. Subject of Nepal or Bhutan

3. Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement

4. Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire,Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India

Probationary Officers (PO) and Management Trainees (MT) are recruited every year through a Common Recruitment Process (CRP), commonly known as the IBPS PO exam.
